"On Wheel Alteration Approaches"

Adults & Teens - Space Is Limited! 
 
Spend the day with internationally known, professional potter Dick Lehman while he demonstrates altering wheel-thrown forms. As the day progresses, Dick Lehman will throw a wide variety of forms, including a piece for every participant to keep. Each participant will be invited to answer several questions about themselves while Dick creates their unique piece.

Workshop topics to include:
· Power point presentation and discussion of Lehman's altered wheel- 
  thrown forms
· Examples of Lehman's unique Sagger-fire technique
· Surveying and trimming finished works

Handouts will be provided during the day and Dick will have some of his finished pieces for sale. A list of questions for participants and workshop itinerary will be provided upon registration. This event is being generously sponsored by the Buchanan Scarecrow Charities.

"ARTIST'S TALK"
WITH BUTCH WELCH

ROTI ROTI GALLERY

The Buchanan Art Center welcomes photographer Butch Welch for an "Artist's Talk" on Friday June 12, from 4-5 pm, where he will discuss work from his BAC gallery show; A Journey Along the Shores -- (which runs from Wednesday, June 3 through Saturday, July 18, 2015) In his talk, Butch will discuss the images in his show, his shooting locations, as well as the role of lighting and the weather when taking his photographs. He will talk a bit about the lighthouses themselves, and will relate the stories behind some of his images. Also covered will be the emotional connection Butch feels with the subjects while making the photographs, and later expressing those emotions through his prints. Free and open to the public.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS WORKSHOP HAS A NO REFUNDS POLICY.

Spend a day with internationally known, professional potter Dick Lehman while he demonstrates altering wheel thrown forms. In the morning he will throw a wide variety of pieces including a piece for every participant to keep in exchange for answering from his list of questions about themselves during the time he makes the piece.* He will then field questions about the ways he has been working with altered forms. Upon arrival at the workshop Subway lunch orders may be placed and paid for with cash only. Lunch will be followed by a power point presentation of altered wheel thrown works and another on his unique sagger firing techniques. Dick will then continue with throwing more altered forms, a reading, and surveying and trimming the finished works. Handouts will be provided during the day and Dick will have some of his finished pieces for sale.
 
* A detailed time schedule and the list of questions will be provided upon registration.
